Cabo San Lucas crews clear sediment, shore up Chula Vista 3 canal after rains
Los Cabos Public Services is working with heavy machinery in El Taste, Lienzo Charro, Vista Hermosa, downtown and Jacarandas Avenue.
Crews from the Los Cabos Public Services department are clearing debris and repairing streets damaged by recent rains in Cabo San Lucas, the XV City Council reported on October 7, 2026. The work includes reinforcing the Chula Vista 3 canal, where eight truckloads of earth were placed.
Streets and neighborhoods covered
According to the city, crews worked on:
- Quintas California street
- Libertad street, in the Centro neighborhood
- Cabo San Lucas street
- Jacarandas Avenue
- Lienzo Charro neighborhood
- El Taste neighborhood
- Vista Hermosa neighborhood
- Chula Vista 3 canal
What is being done
The municipality deployed heavy machinery and dump trucks to remove sediment and debris from roads. On dirt streets, motor graders are leveling and smoothing the surface.
At the Chula Vista 3 canal, the eight truckloads of earth are meant to strengthen the structure and reduce the risk of overflow in future rains.
Context: hurricane season still active
The rains come in the middle of the Pacific tropical cyclone season, which runs through November 30. In Cabo San Lucas neighborhoods near arroyos and canals, each storm can wash sand and rock back onto the streets.
What to do
- Do not cross flowing arroyos or dips, on foot or by car, even if the water looks shallow.
- Report impassable streets or sinkholes to the Los Cabos city government at (624) 146 7600 or presidencia@loscabos.gob.mx, with street, neighborhood and a visible landmark.
- Do not dump trash or rubble in canals, which blocks water flow and worsens flooding.
- In an emergency, call 911.
