Guerrero birth certificate correction event in Cabo San Lucas, Nov. 6–9
Staff from Guerrero's Civil Registry will serve residents at the covered court in the Las Palmas neighborhood, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; some procedures are free and others discounted.
People born in the state of Guerrero who live in Los Cabos will be able to fix their civil records without traveling home: from November 6 to 9, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., a records-correction event will be held at the covered court (cancha techada) in the Las Palmas neighborhood of Cabo San Lucas, the City of Los Cabos announced.
The event is organized by the Los Cabos Municipal Civil Registry, the Baja California Sur state government, and Guerrero's Civil Registry and state government. Guerrero Civil Registry staff will handle cases directly, according to Cabo San Lucas Civil Registry officer Omar Cortés Villegas.
Services offered
According to the city, the event will offer:
- Clarification of records, to fix errors in names, dates or other details.
- Record rectification.
- System incorporation, for certificates that do not appear in the national database.
Some services will be free and others offered at a reduced rate, with discounts for seniors and people with disabilities. The announcement does not list individual fees.
Why it matters
A mistake on a birth certificate, even a single letter, can block procedures such as getting a CURP, a passport, a voter ID, school enrollment or a pension. Corrections are normally handled by the Civil Registry of the state where the record was issued, which for Baja California Sur residents means traveling or managing the process remotely.
Los Cabos is home to a large population that moved from other states, so events like this save trips of thousands of kilometers.
Before you go
- Bring your birth certificate (the original and, if possible, a copy) and an official ID.
- If the error also appears on other documents, such as your CURP or INE voter card, bring them so staff can review the full case.
- Arrive early: these events usually draw lines from the morning.
