The 2026 Cabo San Lucas Traditional Festival (Fiestas Tradicionales) will run October 16–20 under the theme “History and Tradition that Unite Us.” The highlight is the Grand Horseback Parade (Gran Cabalgata) on Sunday, October 18, leaving Rancho Tres Hermanas at 3:00 p.m., the Los Cabos city government reported.
The parade will travel along main streets of Cabo San Lucas, stop at the San Lucas Evangelista parish church for the blessing of the horses and end at the La Sanluqueña bullring. A dinner will follow there from 7:30 p.m., along with a raffle of a saddle among participants.
More than 15 agencies involved
Cabo San Lucas municipal delegate Karina de la O Uribe led the meeting where the festival's operating plan was set. More than 15 departments are taking part, including the OOMSAPAS water utility, Public Works, Civil Protection, Citizen Services, Revenue, Comptroller, General Secretariat, DIF family services, Rural Development and Tourism.
According to the city, Civil Protection, Public Security and veterinary staff will accompany the parade, with hydration stations for riders and horses. The program also includes sports events, a fishing tournament and cultural and tourism activities.
Overnight pothole repairs
Separately, the city's Public Works and Human Settlements department, led by architect Christopher Enríquez González, is carrying out overnight pothole repairs in Cabo San Lucas. The city said the work is done at night to reduce traffic disruption and keep vehicles moving.
Tips for Sunday the 18th
- If you are driving through downtown Cabo San Lucas on Sunday afternoon, expect slow traffic from 3:00 p.m. until evening, especially near the San Lucas Evangelista church and the La Sanluqueña bullring.
- If you are riding, carry water for yourself and your horse even with hydration stations available; October afternoons in Los Cabos are still hot.
- Around overnight road crews, follow posted signs and slow down.
