More than 90,000 people attended the first two days of the 2026 Cabo San Lucas Traditional Festivities, which passed without serious incidents, the Los Cabos city government reported on Oct. 18. The first day drew more than 11,000 people and the second nearly 80,000.
The report comes from the municipal Public Security, Preventive Police and Traffic department, which is running a preventive operation throughout the celebration.
Security record
Five people were detained for administrative offenses on the first day and two on the second, for a total of seven. Various sharp objects were confiscated at entry checkpoints.
The department also recorded a single traffic incident, with no injuries.
Patron saint's day
On Oct. 18, the feast of St. Luke the Evangelist, the port's patron saint, the traditional boat procession in his honor took place, one of the community's most deeply rooted customs. The festivities were opened by Mayor Christian Agúndez.
If you're going in the final days
The festival program runs through Tuesday, Oct. 20, according to the municipal calendar. For those planning to attend, these steps help avoid problems:
- Leave knives, nail clippers with files and other sharp objects at home; they are removed at entry checkpoints.
- If you plan to drink, don't drive; use a taxi, ride-hailing app or public transit.
- Agree on a meeting point with your family, especially if you bring children; with tens of thousands of people it is easy to get separated.
- For any emergency, call 911.
