The La Paz Public Services Department removed 15 tons of branches and debris after the rain recorded early Tuesday, with cleanup work in arroyos, streets and street lighting across several neighborhoods. Damage can be reported through the La Paz app from a mobile phone.
According to the city, the largest volume of material was cleared from the arroyo in the Paraíso del Sol neighborhood. Crews also did manual sweeping at Jardín Velazco and a stretch of the malecón, and removed branches on Degollado and Madero streets.
In El Mezquitito, the arroyo was leveled with heavy machinery, and two fallen trees were removed at the Forjadores and Unión intersection, a high-traffic point. Crews also pruned and cleared branches at Belisario Domínguez, Los Mangos park and the Margarita Maza de Juárez boulevard.
In the Valle Dorado neighborhood, street lighting was repaired on Guimess, Caddebi, Huayib and Gobernadora streets. Public Services head Carlos Núñez Geraldo said "manual sweeping personnel worked at Jardín Velazco and a stretch of the malecón."
For residents, the fastest way to request attention is the La Paz app, available for mobile phones, where a fallen tree, a dark streetlight, a pothole or accumulated garbage can be reported with the exact location. Geolocating the report helps the crew reach the right spot.
The city asked residents not to throw branches or junk into arroyos, since they block water flow and increase the risk of flooding during the rainy season.
