Los Cabos government and transporters continue talks to reorganize public transit
Municipal and state authorities agreed to continue meetings with the sector in search of a more efficient, orderly and safe service.
The Los Cabos city government and the transportation sector agreed to continue the working sessions aimed at improving public transit in the municipality, with the goal of building a more efficient, orderly and safe service. The meetings review the sector's concerns and proposals.
Participants included the first council member acting as president, José Manuel Larumbe Pineda; the municipal general secretary, Alberto Rentería Santana; the municipal transport director, Flavio Amador Hernández; and the state transport director, Martín Salinas Ceseña, along with council members Valerie Donají Olmos Domínguez and Fernando Villegas González.
The joint presence of municipal and state authorities suggests changes will be coordinated at both levels, since in Baja California Sur regulation of licensed transport falls to the state government, while the municipality manages operations within its territory.
The session did not announce any changes to fares, routes or the number of vehicles for now. For riders, the point to watch is whether these meetings translate into more reliable schedules and better conditions on the vehicles connecting San José del Cabo, Cabo San Lucas and the corridor neighborhoods.
While the dialogue advances, any complaint about a vehicle in poor condition, an improper charge or a route that is not respected can be filed with the city's Municipal Transport Directorate, the office that follows up on these reports.
