Los Cabos repairs storm drains in Innova and desilts Lomas del Sol school after the rains
Public Works expects three days to fix the Innova subdivision's drainage, while crews restore roads in San José del Cabo.
The Los Cabos city government is repairing the storm drainage in the Innova subdivision and removed silt from the Lomas del Sol tele-secondary school in Cabo San Lucas, following the rains tied to Hurricane Marie. In San José del Cabo, the Public Works area is running a road-rehabilitation operation on routes damaged by runoff.
In the Innova subdivision, crews probed and cleaned drainage registers and demolished a section to reach the blocked drain. At the Lomas del Sol school, where water seeped into classrooms and the civic plaza, workers removed sand and debris washed in by the rain.
"Department personnel carried out probing and cleaning of the drainage registers," said Carlos Ceseña Villalobos, Public Works coordinator, who estimated three days to complete the drainage repairs.
Preventive desilting of registers and collectors is critical along the tourist corridor, where sand carried by the rains clogs storm drains and causes flooding that snarls traffic. Restoring these systems before the next rainfall lowers the risk of flooding on streets and at schools.

The municipality asked drivers and pedestrians to move with caution in the work zones until the jobs are finished, especially where part of the pavement was demolished to clear the drain.
