Tiburón Urbano's Pedregal–Centro route in La Paz: neighborhoods, stops and how to pay
The city-run service links El Pedregal, Ciudad del Cielo, Ladrillera and El Esterito with downtown, with nearly 16,000 trips a month.
The Pedregal–Centro route of Tiburón Urbano, La Paz's municipal public transit service, links the El Pedregal, Ciudad del Cielo, Ladrillera and El Esterito neighborhoods with downtown and has capacity for nearly 16,000 trips a month, according to the city government. The route runs with two new air-conditioned buses equipped with real-time video surveillance.
Mayor Milena Quiroga Romero said the city had committed to transforming public transportation to make it more dignified, according to the municipal bulletin of October 19.
Key stops
According to the city, the route passes everyday destinations for families in the area:
- Agustín Arriola Martínez and Francisco I. Madero elementary schools.
- Regional Museum of Anthropology and History.
- Nicolás Bravo and Francisco I. Madero municipal markets.
That makes it useful both for school trips and for shopping downtown without relying on a taxi or private car.
How to use the service
Track the bus in real time. Tiburón Urbano has GPS tracking available in App La Paz, the city's official app. Checking it before leaving home helps estimate arrival times and avoid waiting in the sun.
Pay by card. The system uses a digital payment card that can be topped up at OXXO convenience stores. It is a good idea to reload in advance, especially before weekends.
What has not been announced yet
The municipal bulletin does not list the fare, service hours or frequency. Daily riders can check these details in App La Paz or directly with the city.
Why it matters
El Pedregal, Ciudad del Cielo, Ladrillera and El Esterito lie far from the historic center, and residents often face long trips to reach schools, markets and downtown offices. A direct route with air-conditioned buses cuts travel time and heat exposure, a real concern in La Paz for much of the year.
