BCS allocates 22 million pesos to a tech lab and a criminal-analysis unit

The state Public Safety Ministry will build a Technological Innovation Laboratory and a building for the Analysis and Investigation Unit with a crisis room, digital forensics and gender-violence victim services.

State authorities present new public-safety infrastructure in Baja California Sur

The Baja California Sur government will allocate 22 million pesos to new infrastructure for state public safety, with the construction of a Technological Innovation Laboratory and a building for the Analysis and Investigation Unit. The announcement, made on August 13, comes from the State Public Safety Ministry (SSPE).

The Analysis and Investigation Unit building will house a crisis room, a criminal information center and a digital-forensics analysis area. It will also include Social Proximity spaces and a Gender-Violence Victim Services Area.

The Technological Innovation Laboratory will focus on information processing and coordination among the force's operational areas. It is analysis and intelligence infrastructure, not street-level police deployment.

These are "tools that help improve operational capabilities and the generation of strategic information for the prevention and fight against crime," said State Public Safety Secretary Luis Alfredo Cancino Vicente.

For residents, the closest component is the Gender-Violence Victim Services Area, which brings the intake and support of cases together in one space. The bulletin did not specify the municipality where the infrastructure will be built or a completion date; the state emergency number remains 911 and the anonymous tip line is 089.
