Free nutrition counseling session at a municipal health unit in Los Cabos

The Municipal Health Institute of Los Cabos is offering free nutrition counseling at two municipal health units, Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., open to anyone who wants to improve their diet, with special attention to people living with overweight, obesity or chronic conditions.

The service is provided in the Vista Hermosa neighborhood of San José del Cabo and in the Altamira neighborhood of Cabo San Lucas, staffed by nutrition professionals who give personalized advice on food choices and healthy habits. To receive care, residents can go directly to either unit during the stated hours.

The focus goes beyond body weight. The counseling is aimed primarily at patients with diabetes and other chronic illnesses, for whom proper nutrition is part of medical management and helps prevent complications.

"Proper nutrition is not limited to weight loss," said the director of the Municipal Health Institute, Dr. Juan Carlos Costich Pérez, stressing the role of diet in quality of life.

The measure is significant in a municipality with a large working population and a fast tourism pace, where overweight and diabetes are among the country's leading public health problems. Taking advantage of a free nutrition service lets families receive a dietary plan without the cost of a private appointment.

Anyone wanting more information on locations and availability can check the official channels of the Los Cabos city government or visit the Vista Hermosa and Altamira units during service hours.
