Announcement of the free women's health forum in San José del Cabo

Women in Los Cabos can get free health services and attend talks by specialists on Friday, October 23, at Salón Monroy in San José del Cabo, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The forum on women's health and autonomy is organized by the 15th City Council of Los Cabos, the Los Cabos Municipal Women's Institute (IMMLC) and ISSSTE, the federal workers' health and social security institute.

According to the city, admission is free and the event is aimed at women living in the municipality. Talks will be given by national ISSSTE specialists, with participation from its state office.

Free services

In addition to the talks, there will be stations offering these services, according to the city's announcement:

  • Body measurements and nutrition counseling.
  • Glucose screening.
  • Mental health and geriatric care.
  • Vaccinations.
  • Dental services.
  • Physical activity sessions.

Talk topics

The program covers humanized care with an intercultural approach, cardiometabolic health, prevention of neck and lower back pain, and hearing loss. It also includes healthy aging, dementia prevention through exercise and support for caregivers.

IMMLC Director Araceli García Rico described the forum as "un espacio para aprender, compartir y reconocer que siempre existen nuevas oportunidades para cuidar nuestro cuerpo y nuestra mente" (a space to learn, share and recognize that there are always new opportunities to take care of our body and mind).

Making the most of the day

  • Arrive early: service stations tend to be busiest in the first hours.
  • For the glucose test, ask on arrival whether fasting is required; many quick screenings are more useful on an empty stomach.
  • Bring your vaccination card if you have one, so staff can see which doses you are missing.
  • If you care for a relative who is elderly or has a chronic illness, the talks on aging and caregiver support may help.

The announcement does not say whether advance registration is required. To confirm, the city can be reached at (624) 146 7600.
