La Paz collected garbage in 151 neighborhoods Thursday; streets in 12 zones left pending
The city reported the progress of its waste service in the capital and enabled the App La Paz to report uncollected trash.
La Paz's municipal sanitation service handled waste collection in 151 neighborhoods this Thursday, August 28, while some streets in 12 zones of the city were left pending, the city government reported. The department detailed the routes covered during the day to keep track of the service.
Among the neighborhoods and subdivisions served are Centro, Loma Obrera, Francisco Villa, Lázaro Cárdenas, Vista Hermosa, Perla del Golfo, Los Olivos, Las Garzas, Guadalupe Victoria, Villas del Encanto, El Centenario, Chametla, Miramar and Paraíso del Sol, among others. Crews work by sector to cover as many streets as possible each day.
When the garbage truck does not pass down a street, residents can file a report through the App La Paz, in the "La basura no pasó" (the trash wasn't picked up) section, so the area is added to the next routes. It helps to give the neighborhood, street and a nearby landmark to speed up service.
Keeping the sanitation service running matters during the rainy season, when trash piled on the street can clog storm drains and manholes and add to flooding. Keeping drains clear helps water drain quickly during downpours.
As a practical tip, it is best to put out trash only when the truck is about to pass and in well-sealed bags, to separate organic from inorganic waste, and to avoid leaving refuse out overnight, so it does not attract animals that scatter it. These measures make crews' work easier and keep neighborhoods cleaner.
