La Paz property tax: 30% discount plus an extra 5% ends October 31

The Treasury keeps mobile payment windows in El Centenario on Tuesdays and Chametla on Thursdays through December, plus relief for overdue accounts.

Taxpayers pay property tax at a La Paz city hall payment window

Property owners in the municipality of La Paz have until Saturday, October 31, to pay their property tax (predial) with a 30% discount plus an additional 5%, the Municipal Treasury said. To bring the service closer to outlying communities, the city set up mobile payment windows in El Centenario and Chametla that will run from October through December.

The discount applies to payment in a single installment or with participating bank cards. With those cards, payments of 1,500 pesos or more can be spread over 3, 6 or 9 interest-free months.

If you owe previous years

The Treasury is also offering relief to people with back taxes. Municipal Treasurer Jassiel Enríquez Varela said that "quienes tengan adeudo en el 2026 y años anteriores, podrán liquidarlo con un 20% y un extra del 50%" (those with debts from 2026 and earlier years can pay them off with 20% and an extra 50%). According to the city, the 50% applies to fines and late fees.

In practice, this lets owners clear an overdue account for less than the penalties that piled up. It is a good idea to check your account balance before going so you know the exact amount.

Where to pay outside the main offices

According to the city, the permanent mobile windows run as follows from October to December:

  • El Centenario sub-delegation office: Tuesdays, 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
  • Chametla: Thursdays, 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

On Saturday, October 17, the Treasury also opened windows from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at City Hall, the Olachea Market, OOMSAPAS Sector 8 in the El Calandrio neighborhood and the police station in the Diana Laura neighborhood.

Before you go

  • Key dates: there are two Tuesdays (October 20 and 27) and two Thursdays (October 22 and 29) left with windows in El Centenario and Chametla before the discount ends.
  • Bring your cadastral number or a previous property tax receipt to speed up the search for your account.
  • If paying by card in installments, ask at the window which banks participate and make sure the total exceeds 1,500 pesos.

Property tax is one of a municipality's main sources of its own revenue and pays for services such as street lighting, pothole repair and trash collection. Paying while the discount lasts avoids late fees in 2027.
