La Paz brings free services and paperwork to Todos Santos, El Pescadero and El Sargento

The municipal program repaired 226 potholes and provided some 500 services to families, including medical visits, legal advice and pet sterilization.

Municipal brigades provide services to families in Todos Santos, a La Paz delegation

The La Paz municipal government brought free service-and-paperwork brigades to the delegations of Todos Santos, El Pescadero and El Sargento through the "Mayor in Your Delegation" program, which takes agencies that normally operate in the city out to rural communities, the city reported.

On the public-works side, crews repaired 226 potholes, fixed 32 street lights, cleaned 5.8 kilometers of streets, painted 18 wheelchair ramps, marked 640 linear meters of pedestrian crossings and planted 40 trees, in addition to maintaining parks and common areas.

In Todos Santos, families received about 500 free services, including medical and nutrition consultations, legal advice, municipal DIF services, guidance in cases of family and gender-based violence, and pet sterilization. The outreach is organized as single-day sessions where several municipal areas work in a coordinated way.

The approach aims to cut the hour-plus trips that residents of these delegations often make to the municipal seat to complete paperwork or get basic care, a real obstacle in a municipality with communities scattered along the trans-peninsular highway.

How to make use of it: interested families can attend the sessions when the program visits their delegation —dates and venues are announced through the city's official channels and the delegation offices— and bring ID to speed up in-person paperwork. The city said the program will keep expanding to other communities.

To report potholes, lighting failures or other needs without waiting for a session, residents can use the App La Paz, through which the city tracks citizen reports.
