The Institute of Culture and Arts (ICA) of Los Cabos City Hall invited residents to take part in the photography, singing and painting contests of the La Ribera 2026 Traditional Festivities, which begin on August 13 at 4:00 p.m. in that delegation of the municipality.

According to the municipal call, the top three places in each discipline will receive cash prizes in recognition of their effort, dedication and artistic quality. ICA's stated goal is to foster creativity, recognize local artistic talent and strengthen community participation within the celebration.

How to participate

  • Full rules, categories and registration requirements are published on the official ICA Los Cabos Facebook page and in the event's printed materials.
  • For direct questions, Los Cabos City Hall can be reached at Blvd. Mijares No. 1413, Centro, San José del Cabo, by phone at (624) 146-7600, or by email at presidencia@loscabos.gob.mx.
  • It is wise to register before the August 13 start: at the municipality's traditional festivities, sign-ups usually close once each competition begins.

The La Ribera traditional festivities are one of the community celebrations of the municipality's rural corridor, alongside those of Santiago, Miraflores and San José del Cabo, typically combining religious, sports, artistic and commercial activities that draw visitors from neighboring delegations.

If you plan to travel from other parts of the municipality

La Ribera sits on the Sea of Cortez coast, about 60 kilometers from San José del Cabo via the Los Barriles highway and the coastal branch road. Traffic toward the delegation increases on festival days, so plan your trip ahead — especially if you are bringing competition gear such as instruments, paintings or photography equipment — and confirm each discipline's schedule on ICA's official channels before setting out.

For local artists, these municipal contests also serve as a showcase: winners of ICA's cultural editions are often folded into the institute's festival and exhibition programming for the rest of the year.
