Public Services clears junk and branches in four Cabo San Lucas neighborhoods

The cleanup covered Bugambilia, Cabo Fierro, Valle Colonial and Valle del Cabo; officials ask residents not to leave waste on public streets.

The Los Cabos Public Services Directorate removed junk and branches from streets and public spaces in the Bugambilia, Cabo Fierro, Valle Colonial and Valle del Cabo neighborhoods in Cabo San Lucas. The agency said these cleanup efforts are carried out permanently across different parts of the municipality.

At the same time, the city government called on residents to avoid leaving branches, junk and waste on public streets, and stressed that caring for the environment requires joint participation between authorities and the community.

Removing discarded items takes on special importance in the middle of the rainy season. Abandoned containers, tires and pots collect standing water, the ideal breeding ground for the mosquito that transmits dengue, Zika and chikungunya. Clearing those objects from the yard and sidewalk is the most effective prevention measure and is within any resident's reach.

As practical guidance, it is advisable to check yards, rooftops and backyards after every rain to overturn or empty anything that holds water, and to put out bulky junk only when the collection crew passes through the neighborhood, not before, to avoid blocking sidewalks and gutters. Reports of accumulated trash or illegal dumping sites can be filed with the city's Public Services Directorate.
