Women in Los Cabos can get 50% scholarships for English, computer and food courses at CECATI 106
The municipal Women's Institute only asks for a CURP and official ID; the training center is in El Zacatal, San José del Cabo.
Women in Los Cabos can enroll at a 50% discount in job training courses at CECATI 106 in San José del Cabo, through an agreement with the Los Cabos Municipal Women's Institute (IMMLC), the city government said on October 20. Requirements are a CURP population registry code and an official ID.
Courses include English, computing, Excel and food and beverage preparation, along with other specialties offered at the center. CECATI 106 is located at G. Ojeda Núñez and Rodrigo Aragón streets, in the El Zacatal neighborhood.
Why it exists
IMMLC General Director Araceli García Rico said the aim is to remove the economic barriers that limit women's access to training. The scholarship covers half the course cost.
CECATI centers are industrial job training centers under Mexico's Public Education Ministry (SEP). Their courses are short and employment-focused, and graduates receive an officially recognized certificate.
Why it matters in Los Cabos
In a municipality whose economy revolves around tourism and the hotel corridor, English and food and beverage skills are frequently requested by hotels, restaurants and shops. Excel and computer skills, meanwhile, open doors to administrative jobs.
For women who work or care for their families, a short course at half price can make the difference in moving up or increasing income.
How to enroll
The municipal bulletin does not specify start dates, schedules or enrollment deadlines. It is best to go directly to CECATI 106 or check with the city government before showing up, with your CURP and ID in hand.
Los Cabos City Hall is at 1413 Mijares Boulevard, Centro neighborhood, San José del Cabo. The city government's contact number is (624) 146 7600.
